About Our School Council
The School Council is a group of parents, guardians, and school staff who work together to support and enhance the educational experience of all students. Acting in an advisory role, the Council provides parent perspectives, feedback and recommendations to school administration while helping strengthen the connection between families and the school.
We aim to build a strong, connected school community where families feel informed, involved, and empowered.
2026–2027 Board Members
The Board Members are a group of parent volunteers who take on leadership roles within the School Council. They help guide meetings, organize activities, and ensure the council runs effectively. The elected Board members for the current school year are:
- Chair: Lilibeth Benitez
- Vice-Chair: Melissa Doroshenko
- Secretary: Monica Tinajero
- Treasurer: Jennefer Guillen
- Casino Chair: Marcela Lillo
Our Meetings
We meet 5-6 times during the school year. Our meetings are held in the evenings, and parents can choose to attend virtually or in person. Meeting dates and times are shared with families through the school calendar.
Our meetings include two sections:
- School Council: Where we work alongside the school administration to discuss school updates and priorities, share information, and provide a space for parent feedback and questions.
- Fundraising Society: Where we plan and organize fundraising initiatives, review budgets and funding allocation.
All parents and guardians of BJP1 students are welcome to attend our meetings. Your voice, ideas, and participation are always valued!

There are many ways to be involved in our school community:
- Attending School Council meetings
- Volunteering at events (Multicultural Day, Fun Day, etc.)
- Supporting Fundraising Society initiatives (Bottle Drive, Popcorn Sale, etc.)
Whether you have a little time or a lot, your support helps build a stronger school community and creates better opportunities for our students.
